MAROTTA Angelica

Angelica Marotta is an artist who creates figurative works primarily representing human beings as her subject. Her paintings are inspired by great works of Italian opera, poetry, and literature, and her inspiration comes from real life. Her technique, which began with the study of the human body, has refined over time through a long process of introspection. She dedicated her early artistic career to the graphic and monochromatic representation of the female universe and subsequently focused on achieving clear contrasts between red and black. Angelica chose these two colors as a homage to the art of the Etruscans, the ancient inhabitants of the Italian peninsula. Her evocative figures contain a recurring symbolism of water; this characteristic is generally evoked by the flowing hair of women representing a hymn to femininity. Since 2005, Angelica’s paintings have been exhibited at museums and art galleries in Livorno, Pisa, and Florence, Italy. In particular, some of her works were selected for participation at several art exhibitions at the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Pisa, Italy and the Natural History Museum of the Mediterranean in Livorno, Italy. In addition, Angelica won several awards, including the "Ancient Maritime Republics Award" during the collective exhibition held at the Church of San Francesco in Pisa, Italy. Over the years, Angelica developed an interest in digital art, specifically in digital painting. Currently, she is experimenting with new forms of artistic expression while expanding her vision in the virtual world.
